welcome to Haelid the great white plague center
Only 10 km south of Akureyri hides a beautiful village, Kristnes, built up around a tuberculosis (TB) sanatorium from 1927. At HÆLIÐ we have opened a touching exhibition about the TB. Do not miss it on your visit to North Iceland. A cosy Café is attached to it, perfect to taste the homemade pastries and coffee afterwards.
